Did you make it down to Bisbe by chance while you were there.... HUGE old open pit copper mine and an interesting town ...
Some rock shops there with some incredible specimens too.

Joe, you can greatly increase thru-put of beach sand with a properly sized section of triangular profile screen. When flow across is properly adjusted, the blonde sands fairly skate across the top. With the knowledge and equipment available today there really is no need for the forbidden element. My mining is pretty much restricted to beach mining anymore... when I can.... and I routinely capture extremely fine gold with very little loss. I can recover gold down to -300 mesh.... I heard of a guy that had a sample of his tailing pile assayed..... came back at 15+ grams per ton.... I tried to contact his since he was having difficulty capturing the fine gold and offered my assistance. I have not heard back from him ......
