Re: Mining Videos Thread
Thanks Dick, it has been a work in progress, The cover makes it nice if I get a hopper plug.. I can climb up and unplug it without shutting down.
Lots of changes thru the years, I think I’m on my 4th revision of sluice configuration, I’ve built a new and longer stacker, added an auto feed hopper, front and rear power up and down spuds that are both wireless remote control operated, and a camera system that I can monitor sluices, the stacker and keep an eye on a level that is on the boat to keep the sluices in check.

Re: Mining Videos Thread
Dan,
I'm curious on that belt feeder for the trommel. With your material being so wet, how did you keep the material from slopping all over the place once it hits the belt ?

Re: Mining Videos Thread
The feeder has the curved belt rollers, the hopper has belting bolted on it at about the same angle as the conveyor belt and overlaps several inches, the gravel lays on the “curtains” attached to the hopper making a seal of sorts, water takes the path of least resistance and most of it drains into the trommel, there is a large flap of conveyor belt on the discharge end which keeps the wet gravel from squirting into the trommel all at once.. as the conveyor moves it stacks the feed gravel against the flap and regulates the feed pretty well. Under the feed belt I’ve put a makeshift funnel to catch most of the water that spills and it drains into a gutter that drains into the trommel drop box, a spray bar on the drive side of the belt keeps that area mostly clean and aids in the gutter systems draining. It’s not perfect but it works !

Re: Mining Videos Thread
Here is a couple videos I shot with my drone.
This one from 2017 when I was mining on a bench that is about 100' above the current creek channel.

This video is of a friend mining on some high bench ground that I am leasing to him. This deposit is 250' above the
current creek channel and water is always an issue.

Re: Mining Videos Thread
These guys are sinking a shaft this winter. Video says they are in Interior Alaska but interesting in that they are not in a permafrost area!

Video, 7:32l, vimeo, of a trommel made from a piece of the Trans Alaskan Pipeline: https://blueribbonmine.com/gallery
16 hp twin Briggs gas engine, driving a hydraulic drive. Sprocket and chain from a cement mixer. Fed with a 7/8yd Drott excavator. Took about 60 long days of welding and stuff. 1100GPM water was supplied by a 6cyl diesel pump.
