Re: Remote Prospecting?
All good answers Chuck and they do answer my concerns. Just goes to show you that not all situations are, or can be, done the same.
Here on the Klamath we get into cemented stuff at times; it is usually just above bedrock. You can jack hammer it out, or bust it out with a sledge hammer, but then you have chunks of cemented material that holds gold.
The trick here is an extremely high pressure, pressure washer. I found a special pressure washer nozzle that boosts the pressure significantly. It will cut through the cemented stuff and reduce it to grains of materiel. We work it ahead of our suction dredge nozzle, so it all goes through the dredge, but is broken down so that the sluice catches the gold that has been liberated.
Thanks again for the detailed explanation.

Re: Remote Prospecting?
Jim,
That sets a good example for other miners! We never know what the challenges may be that lie around the next bend in our prospecting travels. I am often amazed at the ingenuity of prospectors!
Thanks for sharing a valuable solution to a perplexing and difficult problem!
