Re: Remote Prospecting?
Easy, do you plan on dredging the upper east fork of the Kougarok? If so, you need to snatch out your Hungarians and go with straight expanded over Nomad.
Easier to modify here than on the river.

Re: Remote Prospecting?
Micropedes1,
I am assuming this would be due to extremely fine gold? Are you familiar with Gold Hog matting? I have used it on very fine gold in Colorado. About 70% of what I recovered was -100, about 29% was +100 to -50, the last 1% was +50 and up. You literally can count the pieces that are +30!!
Thanks for the help.

Re: Remote Prospecting?
Is it rational?
Is it rational to think a better MAT is the solution when you are in an area that has no GOLD?
To heck with statistics... I don't have any statistics, but I know they're wrong!

Re: Remote Prospecting?
The advantage of technology;
We have the advantage of technology... "Are you familiar with Gold Hog Matting?"
Yup...
It comes in 6" sections and you use Gorilla tape to tape the sections together on the back... Yup!
I used it on the beach in San Diego... Works great!
Things are TOUGHER in ALASKA...
The three man rule applies when using Gorilla Tape in a COLD, WET (& WINDY) Climate...
One man to pull off the tape while the second holds the roll. You cannot let go of one end! (it's windy)
A third man to hold the camera and blow drier to keep the Gold Hog Mat DRY...
Yup...
As explained in the video, you have to reverse roll the mat to get the GOLD out...
Anyone ever try to reverse roll RUBBER MAT when it's 38 degrees out?
Yup... been there done that...

Re: Remote Prospecting?
Nope, they got the easy Gold! With proper equipment you can move more material than they could in a month! I know you mention the surveys state of Alaska does, pretty sure the old timers didn't have those.
