Re: Remote Prospecting?
OK, now you have me really confused. A visitor information center? For what?
You also said this was a year round operation. How can this be when you can't mine in winter? Perhaps I am missing something here, or a lo of somethings.

Re: Remote Prospecting?
I am familiar with all if those things at a docent size operation, but a small one man operation? Seems like a bit of overkill when the miner can access his mine in about an hour's time from his home.
Of course I have not been there since 2003, so things at his mine may have changed a lot. But it would seem like what you are describing has advanced way past a small one man operation.
The last information I had about this was a small track loader to strip overburden and a dredge. Perhaps he has been successful enough to take the mine to the next level. It still doesn't explain access to the mine by truck. It is hard to believe that he got permission to drive a truck there and even harder to believe he could do it; it is mushy bog of a cat trail in summer..
