Re: Remote Prospecting?
Jim,
Sorry, it's the "Nome-Taylor Highway"...
It ends at Taylor, Alaska.

OK Chuck, you had me going with that one. Never been to Nome so I didn't connect it with your post.

Re: Remote Prospecting?
The Kougarok work-around;
Because of the sensitivity issues with TUNDRA, a wise miner must think about alternative access.
The upper Kougarok River was dredged with a bucket-line dredge. That fact offers an opportunity for a modified deep draft barge to be placed in the water. A barge serves to provide an excellent platform for large suction dredging operations! In this case, it may be possible to have a small living space on the barge... Even an excavator on the barge!

Easygoer,
While we are all patiently waiting for the ICE to melt...
It's a good time to LOOK at DATA. It's a new kind of mining called "Data mining".
I would defer discussion on Geophysical Prospecting and to those respective threads on this Forum.

Re: Remote Prospecting?
Shock and awe;
I was the one that introduced the concept of dredging for GOLD on the ice - offshore from NOME before the DISCOVERY NETWORK started the "Bering Sea GOLD: Under the ice" series.
Yep, you heard it HERE on the Alaska GOLD Forum first!
Incidentally, I have access to the "Producers Portal" at the Discovery Network...
Here's the PLAN...
"KOUGAROK RIVER ICEMAN GOLD"
Mine GOLD in the WINTER when the RIVER is FROZEN!
There's more... Don't go away!

Re: Remote Prospecting?
Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't you have to have some water to dive? Frozen solid may make it hard to get under the ice, sounds like you may need Todd Hoffman??
